Vuzix, Inc. (OTCBB:VUZI<\/a>) may have everything going right, but without constant reminders, the shares fall back to lower levels. On Tuesday, the ticker grew a little, adding about 5% to $2.74, on dollar volumes above $496,000. VUZI<\/a> issued an update on its augmented reality glasses, which should start selling soon and expect tangible results in 2014. \"VUZI1211.png\" <\/p>\n

VUZI<\/a> now revealed it has a superior optics technology that trumps the qualities of prism-optics in comparable devices. The more compact technology would lead to more subtle, higher-quality interactive glasses. This technology, Waveguide Optics, originated with Nokia, Inc., and VUZI<\/a> is a license holder. \"ELTP1211.png\"<\/p>\n

The products of VUZI<\/a> are still different-looking than the much-awaited Google Glass. The company already produces and sells monocle versions of its technology, as well as video glasses- but it is not et clear if there is the infrastructure to offer a similar augmented reality to Google. After all, VUZI<\/a> hardly has access to the Big Data that Google constantly tracks.<\/p>\n

Still, VUZI<\/a> relies on sales to niche industries, such as movie-making, where video glasses replace a camera’s viewfinder. And the biggest plus is that older versions of video glasses are being sold and are positively received. The reasonable price for the VUZI<\/a> products is also seen as a plus.<\/p>\n

Investors’ forums are generally positive about VUZI<\/a>, going as far as suggesting that Google, Inc. may offer a buyout package to dampen the competition. Even the mention of such an option could boost the ticker, at least for a while.<\/p>\n

VUZI<\/a> lines up with other OTCBB companies that fare quite well, at least until the publicity efforts weaken for a while. Elite Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (OTCBB:ELTP<\/a>) had all the right things going for itself, except for the crash that came when enthusiasm waned.<\/p>\n

Biozone Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (OTCBB:BZNE<\/a>) also started off well, but went on to trade choppily, mostly gravitating around the 60-cent levels, never making a confident breakthrough to the dollar levels as expected.<\/p>\n

If you still believe VUZI<\/a> has it in itself to attack better positions, it is still best to invest only affordable sums and not rely too much on positive developments. No amount of success can guarantee short-term stability for a ticker.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
